The Food Freedom Group Program consists of 3 important pillars:

Why an online program?
Because we know how much you love learning and being proactive about your health in in your most comfy pair of joggers! Dr. Ali and Emily have both worked in health care collectively for over 30 years. We LOVE working one on one but we wanted to bring change to a larger audience but still keep it intimate enough for you to connect with them, and other women, and really dig deep into your health and wellness goals.
This program includes a comprehensive wellness e-book including handouts, assignments, and all things to keep you accountable and on track. We will also connect you to each other through a private Facebook group so you can share in your wins and hold each other up in making these gentle lifestyle and dietary upgrades in your life.
It has been proven time and time again that when women work in small groups that support change, accountability, and a deep respect for one another, long-lasting change is more attainable.

I went into Food Freedom thinking I was going to come out with some diet changes and stress management… Well I came out with that, but that doesn’t even begin to do justice to the gift this program gave me in guiding me to live a life of freedom! They gave me a change in perspective for the better. A complete lifestyle change that transformed the way I view health. I no longer worry about the calories or how much fat is in something. I am in tune with my body and have found the things that make it happy are the things I enjoy most! I can’t imagine ever going back.

Meet Tenley, Emily and Dr. Ali

I was born “sick”.
My tummy was a mess from the day I entered this world. It was never anything the doctors could figure out and being “sick” was something that was normal to me growing up. I would spend days bent over in crazy pain and I would be running to the restroom in the most awkward moments. This tummy sickness of mine became especially awkward and painful in my adolescent and college years, causing me to miss a lot of fun experiences, or creating incredibly embarrassing moments. There would be days that my stomach would feel like a “spastic colon” and days where I was in such incredible pain with constipation.
I had every kind of test done and there were still no answers. Around my 25th birthday I was going through some big life transitions and my stomach was even worse at this point with all the stress I was facing. My mom had found a book about going gluten free and I thought maybe it was time to explore things on my own without the doctors. So that is exactly what I did. I read the book, and never in my life had I ever heard someone explain my “normal” as their normal. I related to every symptom. I decided to try going gluten free, and I took this challenge on willingly! In about two weeks my stomach was already different.
This lead me to changing my lifestyle forever.
As I started to teach myself about my new gluten free lifestyle, my interest in healthy foods and even cooking came into place. I began to discover an extreme interest in holistic nutrition and as my new normal became something I never thought I would know, it opened the doors to a whole new career and way of living. Knowing that I could heal myself I decided I wanted to help as many of those that I could find a way to live a happy and healthy lifestyle free of pain in sickness. This lifestyle change went beyond just going gluten free, and it repaired more than just my stomach. My immune system is strong and healthy now, and I have energy instead of the fatigue I used to experience daily. I live a life in freedom from the physical exhaustion and pain I once knew.
When I met Emily, we immediately knew we shared the common interest of helping as many people as we possibly could. The dream of supporting others in finding a healthier lifestyle, with simple upgrades they could make in their very own kitchen because a reality when we launched the DIYcleanse. Now we are on a mission to reach as many people as possible. So cheers to as many happy and healthy lives we can help bring to all of you! xo, Tenley
They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
I can most certainly relate with this statement. My path into the world of wellness and nutrition was a tragic one. It was after a life altering airplane crash that took the lives of both of my brothers and my father. I was 22 years old at the time. This tragic event altered the course of my life forever. In the days and months following this crippling event in my life, I found myself in a yoga class.
I grew up a dancer my whole childhood, so I didn’t think yoga would be anything special.
I vividly remember the teacher to cue the class to take a few minutes to check in with our breath. She was speaking another language to me. For the first time in months, I took a full breath. I felt what it felt like to breathe. With this attention and effort, I could feel my body again for the first time in months.
I don’t know if I fell in love with yoga, or with the ability to connect with my body again. Either way, it was immediate and I took a deep dive into yoga. The very next weekend, I found myself in a yoga teacher training. I knew if yoga could bring relief to my trauma, I could help others by leading them down this same path.
While I was studying yoga and surrounded by people who were living a very healthy lifestyle I realized there was a huge disconnect with me. My ‘normal’ college eating habits included a pepsi almost every day, the Wendy’s drive through on occasion, powdered sugar donuts in my glove box (shhhhh) and zero mindfulness about what I was eating, and how it was effecting my body.
For the first time I started to question why I had been on antibiotics for 2 years for my skin, and still suffered from terrible acne. I slowly put the pieces together that what I ate was directly effecting my energy, my complexion, and my digestion.
As I made some very slow changes in my diet, I became fascinated with nutrition. I knew my next steps were to study beyond my Bachelors in Psychology and learn everything I possibly could about nutrition.
After enrolling in school to become a clinical nutritionist, in just a few short months of applying what I was learning to my own health, I turned a huge corner. After making a few dietary changes specifically around noticing how much sugar I was consuming, I noticed to see my energy sky rocket,, my skin become vibrant and clear again, and I was actually feeling energy and confidence. It was an incredible transformation, and one that I was very inspired and passionate to help others make.
NourishMint Wellness was born just a few weeks before my first child was born in 2013. After being in practice for over 10 years, I a deeply grateful for all of the clients lives I have been a part of, and the impact I have been able to make. The best part of my job is when a client shares with me that a program or protocol I suggested has drastic change in their lives. I love being able to help others- and I am living my dream job.
Grief is a lonely place to be, and it took me years to see a blue sky instead of a gray sky. I like to think that though it was a horrific experience that changed me profoundly, it has given me the gift of a new and unique perspective. I believe when life gets hard, it can be very revealing, and I think it dramatically changed how I show up in the world. My life experiences has brought me to this place where I can connect with others. Pain is pain, no matter how severe. I use this unique tool to help women feel supported, and to create balance and peace in their lives through a new perspective, holistic nutrition, yoga and mindfulness.
Creating NourishMint, The Ignite Life Project, DIY cleanse and Food Freedom are all out of deep passion for loving and helping others.

“In my years as a naturopathic doctor, I have learned you can’t just treat the symptoms. You have to treat the person as a whole.”
While I loved all of my individual roles, my life felt like a series of tasks and stressors. My capacity to accomplish goals was high, but my health, relationships, and sanity were suffering. Whom was I trying to impress, anyway?
Thus, I began the process of a-deep-dive into what excited and inspired me and who I wanted to be, on my terms. I began to review all the skills and knowledge I learned in my education and various trainings and then reapply them to my own life. I developed a devotional practice to myself, with two main tenants as the driving philosophy:
1) If I take care of myself first, the rest of my life flows and I can better care for others.
2) I have to trust my body, the messages it is sending me, and its ability to heal.
With the help of some friends, healers, guides and my own intuition, I began to thrive instead of survive. My background in naturopathic medicine, functional medicine, Ayurvedic healing, yoga, qigong, chronic illness and cancer, medical laboratory science, and counseling lead me down a path of finding myself in balance and joy.
I started sharing my findings with my good friend, Emily, and we realized the self-work I was doing could benefit every busy woman. She could relate from her own life experience and we realized that between the two of us we had a mountain of knowledge to create balance in many area of life: health, lifestyle, mood, relationship, genetics, environment and diet/nutrition. Hence, the Ignite Life Project was born; a project that brings me great joy and allows me to practice my skills on my terms. We hope it will do the same for you!
My primary goal when assisting others is to remain loyal to the fundamental naturopathic tenant of treat the root-cause of all symptoms. If these tools can help someone like me have more sleep, energy, self-confidence, and physical fitness, they can help almost anyone. For me it is about feeling VITAL, not just another “wellness” plan.
I am committed to helping women with their health and empowering them to feel great in their lives! Using science combined with traditional wisdom to influence the biochemistry of an individual’s health is my passion and I am honored to aid people on their journey to vital health.
In my free time I am busy being a present and caring mother, wife and friend and supporting a healthy and sustainable global enviornment.
